The House of Mannan Charitable Trust (HMCT) was founded in 2006 and is registered under both the Trust and Societies Registration Acts of Bangladesh. HMCT's corporate office is situated in the Baridhara Diplomatic Zone, Gulshan, Dhaka. It also has a regional office in Sirajganj District.
Where are HMCT projects carried out?
HMCT is committed to providing compassionate assistance to people from all backgrounds and religions. It initially began its charity initiatives in various upazilas in the Sirajganj district. These activities have recently spread to the capital, Dhaka.
Sirajganj
Sirajganj is one of the most important districts in north-western Bangladesh. It is located on the west bank of the Jamuna River. It is the third most developed district of Rajshahi Division. All the above-mentioned charity activities are going on in different upazilas of the district. Moreover, HMCT is providing services and assistance to the poor people in other ways. In the northwest of Bangladesh, Sirajganj is one of the most significant districts. It is called the gateway to North Bengal. The district's several upazilas are hosting the aforementioned charitable endeavors. In addition, HMCT helps the poor in various ways.
Shahjadpur upazila, Sirajganj
Shahjadpur is an upazila or sub-district of Sirajganj District. A major part of HMCT's charitable activities is implemented in this upazila. This upazila is located at a distance of 50 km from Sirajganj district headquarters. Shahzadpur thana was established in 1845 and was turned into an upazila in 1982. The area is famous for the weaving and dairy industry. Sarees and lungis are widely known in the country among the textile products produced here. The second major industry here is dairying. One of the factors that has increased the importance of Shahjadpur Upazila is the petroleum depot established at Baghabari river port. Almost all of North Bengal’s fuel oil is supplied from here. Shahzadpur is emotionally connected with the fond memory of the Nobel-laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore, who used to stay here in connection with administration of his father's zamindary. He wrote a lot of verses while living here. His Kachharibari (revenue office) is still there.
Dhaka
Dhaka is the capital and largest city of Bangladesh. It ranks seventh in terms of population density and is the ninth-largest city in the world. People from all over the country flock to this city in quest of livelihood. They frequently lack access to necessities like medical facilities. A sizable part of them resides in slums or open-air walkways. For them, HMCT has adopted the Eye-Care program, which offers low-income people access to eye health treatments. The target population for this initiative is youngsters who are homeless, distressed, orphans, floating street children, etc.
